Field Manager |
| Bio: |
Phil Warren returns for his third season at the helm of the Grizzlies, becoming only the second manager to do so. He guided the Grizzlies to a second-half turnaround and a second straight post-season appearance in his second season in the dugout last year. He led the club to a franchise-record 64 wins, and the West Division title in his inaugural season as the skipper. The former Frontier League All-Star spent the 2006 season as the Director of Player Personnel and was named as the fourth manager in franchise history November 3, 2006.
Prior to the 2006 season, the St. Louis native spent three seasons on the playing field for the Grizzlies and parts of six seasons total in the Frontier League. Warren retired following the 2005 season, holding many of the Grizzlies career offensive records including most games, most hits, most home runs and most RBIs. Warren held 11 total Grizzlies career offensive records when he retired as a player.
Prior to his Frontier League career, the St. Louis native played baseball at Southeast Missouri State University. Warren played high school baseball and soccer at Vianney High School.
Warren continues to work closely with little leagues in the Metro East and the St. Louis area. He will direct Grizzlies Summer camps at GCS Ballpark and local league facilities.
Warren and hitting coach Darin Kinsolving own P and D Baseball LLC. The company owns and operates the Grizzlies Baseball Academy which opened at GCS Ballpark in January. Phil and his wife Sarah reside in Freeburg.
