Alec Kisena (pronounced Kih-SEH-nuh) enters his second year with the Grizzlies in 2018. He was a member of the starting rotation from mid-June until the end of last season, when he started 13 games for Gateway. Kisena struck out 59 batters against 38 walks in 68 innings. He finished the year with a 3-5 record and 6.61 ERA. His best start came against Evansville on June 21, when he hurled six shutout innings and allowed only two hits while striking out five.
Kisena, 22, was selected in the 16th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers, and spent 2016 in their minor league system. At only 19 years old, he posted a 1-1 record with a 2.25 ERA in 40 innings pitched across nine starts. He struck out 44 and only walked 16.
The Seattle native was drafted out of Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Washington.
