|Draft:||26th Round - 2013 - Toronto Blue Jays|
Tanner Cable enters his second season with Gateway. He was originally selected by the Grizzlies in the 2017 Frontier League Draft.
As a rookie in 2017, Cable appeared in 32 games out of the bullpen. He racked up a 4-4 record to along with a 3.91 ERA and struck out 46 batters in 46 innings. If he cuts down on his 45 walks from a year ago, Cable could become a dominant reliever in the Frontier League — opponents hit only .198 against him in 2017.
Cable also finished the year strong. In his final seven appearances of 2017 (starting Aug. 19), he allowed only one run over eight innings. He struck out five while only giving up three hits and three walks. Cable pitched especially well against Evansville: In four appearances against the Otters, he threw eight scoreless innings and allowed only one hit.
The right-hander finished his college baseball career with Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss., where he served as team captain. Cable was previously chosen in the 26th round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
