SAUGET, Ill. – The Gateway Grizzlies offense finished the job on Saturday night with a walk-off error at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. FINAL SCORE/11: Normal 3, Gateway 4.

Gateway starter Dalton Shalberg kept Normal off of the scoreboard through the first two innings while his offense produced two first-inning runs to give Gateway the early lead.

Normal cut the deficit in half in the top of the third on a two-out RBI double by infielder Santiago Chirino.

Gateway added an insurance run in their half of the third on an RBI single by outfielder Terry McClure to extend the Grizzlies' lead to 3-1.

Normal fought back once again in the fifth. After a Gateway error, Chirino hit a two-out, two-run double to center field that landed just out of the reach of Matt Hearn to tie the game at three. Chirino picked up all three RBIs for Normal in the game.

After four straight scoreless innings for both teams, the game headed into extras.

Both teams went scoreless in the 10th to set up the international tie-breaker in the 11th. After shutting down Normal in the top half of the inning, the Grizzlies finished the job.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Cody Livesay hit a hard ground ball to shortstop. Santiago Chirino could not field the ball cleanly and Brian Lees scored the game-winning run from third base.

Terry McClure picked up two hits and two RBIs on Saturday night. Matt Hearn added two steals to put his season total to 29. Hearn is now tied for the most steals in a single season in Grizzlies franchise history. He will go for No. 30 tomorrow.

Austin Sweet pitched well for Gateway through the final two innings. He did not allow a hit and picked up two strikeouts.

Gateway will conclude the weekend series against Normal Sunday night at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. All the action can be heard on the Grizzlies Media Network.
